Hi, I’m Anna! I’m a 26-year-old free-spirited, happiness-spreading, animal-loving health junkie living in Toronto, ON, Canada. I started Klean Kuisine as a hobby to share my passion for clean, nutritious food creations with friends, family, and anyone else who drops by.
After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences & Human Biology, I made the decision to take a year off my studies and focus on myself. I spent this year reflecting on my accomplishments, ambitions, and future goals. I re-evaluated what I really want out of life and what truly makes me happy. In the midst of this all, I finally had time to put effort into my meals and found a passion for cooking. I slowly began cooking up a storm in the kitchen and was getting praise from my family. I looked forward to trying different recipes and found myself constantly browsing Pinterest for new ideas. I would share my creations with others who would inquire how I made this or that. As I would consider myself an artsy and creative person, a blog seemed like a perfect platform to share my recipes and that’s how Klean Kuisine was born!
Currently, I am a medical student working towards a Doctor of Naturopathy degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I have also completed a Master of Science degree looking at the association between glycemic load and cognition in older adults at the University of Calgary. My thesis project was published in Clinical Nutrition, and you can have a read about it here. I am very passionate about health, particularly through natural means, and am looking forward to combining my creative side with my future practice.
Although diet-wise I label myself as a pescatarian (fish, no meat), I mainly consume a plant-based diet and try to limit dairy and gluten. I have been consuming a pescatarian diet for over a decade now and feel the most energized, healthy, and clean when I eat plant-based. The recipes that I share are ones that I incorporate into my diet regularly.
